A special economic zone “Korkyt Ata” has been created in Kazakhstan: a new impetus for investment and technology
Unique location and strategic logistics
“Korkyt Ata” SEZ will occupy an area of 550 hectares next to the “Western Europe–Western China” international transport corridor. This location opens up significant logistical opportunities for companies, facilitating the export of goods to neighboring countries and distant markets. The geographical proximity to China also makes the zone attractive for Chinese companies to participate.

Business preferences and investment plans
Residents of “Korkyt Ata” will have access to a special preferential legal regime, including tax and customs exemptions. According to the government's plans, by 2049, more than 150 billion tenge of investments will be attracted to the zone, of which about 80 billion will be from foreign sources.
It is expected that the volume of production of goods and services in “Korkyt Ata” will reach 500 billion tenge, while up to 90% of the added value will be generated locally. It is also planned to create over 3,300 new jobs over 25 years and increase the number of resident companies to 39.

Infrastructural and technological priorities
The “Korkyt Ata” SEZ will serve as a platform for the development of high-performance, competitive industries, modern service delivery, and the adoption of advanced technologies across key sectors of the economy. The government highlights its focus on industries such as agro-processing, engineering, logistics, and digital solutions.

Integrated approach: multimodal hubs and other SEZs
The creation of the Korkyt Ata zone is part of a broader strategy for the development of economic hubs throughout the country. Recently, the port SEZ status was also officially granted to a number of other sites: Ontustik, Astana-Technopolis, Saryarka, Alatau and Aktobe.
Special attention is being paid to the formation of a multimodal logistics hub in Aktobe, for which it is planned to attract over 1.2 trillion tenge of investments. Such steps make it possible to build sustainable export routes and strengthen the transport and infrastructure connectivity of the regions.

Kazakhstan's economy: a course towards diversification and sustainable growth
Kazakhstan remains the largest economy in Central Asia. Although the country traditionally relies on the raw materials sector, the level of economic diversification is gradually increasing. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), over the past decades, Kazakhstan has demonstrated steady GDP growth per capita, which has contributed to improving living conditions, reducing poverty and increasing market activity.
In this regard, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with economists and industry experts, where the most promising areas for investment were discussed. The focus is on the transition to a new economy based on innovation, industrial renewal and the qualitative development of human capital.
The creation of the “Korkyt Ata” SEZ is not just an infrastructure project, but part of a broader strategy to modernize the economy of Kazakhstan. It can become a powerful incentive to attract investments, increase the technological level of production and create new jobs in the region.
